Press Releases / Christ Church Cathedral choirs hold summer concert

Let all the world..The choirs of Dublin's Christ Church cathedral are set to perform their annual summer concert later this week. Entitled Let all the world in every corner sing!, the concert will feature the Five Mystical Songs, in which Ralph Vaughan Williams (the fiftieth anniversary of whose death is this year) sets to music poetry by George Herbert.

Other composers represented in the programme include Vaughan Williams friend Gerald Finzi, Dublin born Charles Villiers Stanford, J.S. Bach, Thomas Tallis and Felix Mendelssohn. Also included is a rare performance of Richard Rodney Bennett's song cycle, The Aviary, for soprano soloist and piano.

Featuring both the cathedral choir and the cathedral girls’ choir, the concert takes place on Friday 16 May at 8.00pm in Christ Church cathedral. Tickets cost Euro 15 (conc. Euro 10) and are available from the music office in advance or at the door.
