ENGLISH VERSION---------------------------------------

Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise (the Irish Guild of the Church) recently held its annual General Meeting. The following were elected to its Coiste (Committee): Dr Kenneth Milne, Rev Eric Culbertson, Mrs Eileen McCracken, Mr Seathrún MacÉin, Mr Dáithí Ó Maolchoille and Mr Aonghus Dwane. Daithí Ó Maolchoille was re-elected Hon Treasurer and Aonghus Dwane was elected Hon Secretary.

The Cumann aims to link its programme with the Irish language initiatives centered around Christ Church Cathedral in recent years, such as the Celtic Revival Summer School, the "Colmcille @ Christ Church" festival and the occasional sung Evensong services in Irish). The Cumann announced that an interdenominational service in Irish would be held for Church Unity Week on the 23rd January 2009, and a sung Evensong in Irish on the 14th March 2009. The Cumann holds Irish services twice monthly in Dublin and all are welcome to attend these.

Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise was founded in 1914 to bring together members of the Church of Ireland interested in Irish language and Gaelic culture, and to promote the Irish language within the Church of Ireland. Today, both members and friends of the Church of Ireland are involved in the Cumann.
