Press Releases / Christ Church Bray Hosts Narnia Festival

Narnia, the magical world of CS Lewis is the inspiration for a special Easter Festival taking place in the fortnight leading up to Easter Sunday.
At the Lampost in Narnia in Christ Church, Bray
Entitled 'Through the Wardrobe' the festival is an exciting interactive experience for children of all ages.  Entering the beautiful 145 year old church building through a specially designed wardrobe, complete with fur coats, the visitor emerges into a winter wonderland of Christmas trees, snow and wonder.

Children will visit several scenes from the first book of CS Lewis' series, the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe starting with a selection of stone statues in the grounds of the church. They will enter the Church via the Wardrobe and enter a forested snowy landscape close to Mr Tumnus' house.

Amongst the other highlights of the trip are the White Witches' Sleigh, the battle scene and a Spring Scene at the back of the Church.

According to the Rector of the Parish, the Revd Baden Stanley "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' is an Allegory of the Easter Message with Aslan's self-sacrificing Love mirroring that of Christ's so it's particularly apt that we host this festival in the lead up to Easter. In these challenging times, the festival is designed to remind us that there is still wonder."

The Festival, which is being run with the support of the CS Lewis company and Douglas Gresham, CS Lewis' heir is running from Monday, 30 March 2009 to Friday, 10 April 2009 and is open to visitors between the hours of 10.00am and 4.00pm.  Bookings can be made by contacting the parish office at 01-2862968.
