Press Releases / RTE to Broadcast U2Charist with Discovery Gospel Choir


Discovery Gospel Choir are joining forces with the Zimbabwean community in Ireland for a very special U2charist to be shown live on RTE1 on this Sunday, 29th March.

The multicultural choir will perform the songs of U2 as part of a service to commemorate the first anniversary of the Discovery Gospel ChoirZimbabwean elections.

Songs such as Walk On, Gloria and In The Name Of Love will be mixed with prayers and reflections on the current crisis in Zimbabwe. Over 2,000 Zimbabwean people now live in Ireland, a small few of whom sing with Discovery Gospel Choir.

The idea for the U2charist originated in the U.S. but has been creatively re-arranged by Róisín Dexter, the new Musical Director of Discovery Gospel Choir.

The group are based in St. George and St. Thomas's Church on Cathal Brugha St. in Dublin city centre and will be performing nationwide in the coming months.


The U2charist will be shown live on RTE 1 at 11.15am on Sunday 29th March.
