Press Releases / The Revd Jim Carroll To Be New Rural Dean of St Mary's


It was announced today that the Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill has appointed the Revd Jim Carroll, Rector of Raheny and Coolock to be also the new Rural Dean of St Mary's with effect from 1 April 2009. He will succeed the Revd Andrew Orr, Rector of Castleknock and Mulhuddart with Clonsilla, who is leaving the Diocese to become Rector of the Tullow Group of Parishes in the Diocese of Cashel and Ossory in May.

The Rural Deanery of St Mary's consists of the parishes of Castleknock and Mulhuddart with Clonsilla, the Christ Church Cathedral Group of Parishes, Christ Church Cathedral, Drumcondra and North Strand, St George and St Thomas (Cathal Brugha Street) and Santry and Glasnevin with Finglas.

Amongst the responsibilities of a Rural Dean is the care of any parish in the Deanery that becomes vacant.
