Press Releases / St Ann's to Re-enact Wedding of Bram Stoker and Florence Balcombe

As part of a programme of events to highlight Dublin City Council's One City One Book choice of Dracula in April the re-enactment of Bram Stoker's wedding will take place in St Ann's Church Dawson Street on Saturday 4 April at 2.00 pm.Bram Stoker, Florence Balcombe and a Distraught Oscar Wilde

The re-enacted wedding will see the presence of famous contemporaries of Bram Stoker including Henry Irving and his acting partner, Ellen Terry. Standish O'Grady will also be present, as will Oscar Wilde, doubtless forlorn having once been engaged to Florence.

Bram Stoker,  the author of Dracula, was married to Florence Balcombe in St Ann's in 1878.  This was a big surprise as up to then she had been the sweetheart of Oscar Wilde.
