Diocesan Synods


The Diocesan Synods of Dublin and Glendalough will open with Holy Communion in Christ Church Taney at 4pm on Tuesday 14 October 2008. Following this the business of synod will take place in the nearby Taney parish centre.

The Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill will open proceedings with his Presidential Address which normally covers issues of local and national importance. Following this, the Synod will over this evenging and the following evening discuss and debate reports by the Diocesan Councils, the Diocesan Board of Education, the Diocesan Committee on Social Action, the Ministry of Healing and the Diocesan Council for Mission.

As these synods are also the first of the triannium, they will see the election of people to various bodies including the diocesan representatives to General Synod, the Diocesan Council and the diocesan board ofeducation. The elections are conducted by secret postal ballot in the days following the synods.
