The Revd Darren McCallig, new Church of Ireland chaplain at Trinity College, DublinNEW CHAPLAIN FOR TRINITY COLLEGE

It was announced today that the Revd Darren McCallig has been appointed the new Church of Ireland Chaplain in Trinity College, Dublin by Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill and with the approval of the Board of the University.

The Revd Darren McCallig is from Claremorris, Co Mayo. He studied History and Law in NUI Galway where he was elected President of the Student’s Union. After serving as Education Officer for USI, he became their press officer before becoming Assistant Administrator of St Patrick’s Cathedral. A member of the Board of Directors of the Dublin Simon Community, he was ordained a Deacon in 2005 and since then has been Curate of Monkstown parish in the Diocese of Dublin. He was ordained to the Priesthood in 2006. He will succeed the Revd Dr Alan McCormack who resigned in March to take up a new post in London.

The Revd Darren McCallig’s appointment will take effect from 13 August 2007.
