THE
REVD JOHN TANNER TO BE NEW RECTOR OF TULLOW PARISH
It was announced today that the
Revd John Tanner will be the new Rector of Tullow
Parish, Carrickmines, Co Dublin in the Diocese
of Dublin. John is presently Curate in Taney Parish,
Dundrum.
The Revd John Leonard Tanner was
born and brought up in Bandon, Co Cork and was
educated at Bandonbridge National School and Bandon
Grammar School. On leaving school he joined the
Allied Irish Bank and worked in various parts
of the country including Dublin, Tipperary and
Cork. He was ordained a Deacon in 2003 and has
been Curate in Taney Parish, Dundrum since then.
In 2004 he was ordained a Priest.
Commenting on his appointment
the Revd John Tanner said Obviously taking
up a new post like this involves a big challenge
and I am looking forward to it. Ministering in
Tullow will have the added attraction of being
able to maintain many of the wonderful friendships
that I and my family have benefited from during
our time in Taney. I am particularly looking forward
to working with the parishioners in Tullow in
enhancing the strong sense of community and journeying
together to meet the challenges that face the
parish in the years ahead.
Johns relaxation activities
include tennis, walking and reading. He and his
wife, Vera, have two sons, Keith aged 17 and James,
14.
John will succeed the Revd Canon
Cecil Bryan, who retired as Rector of Tullow recently.
The date of institution will be announced at a
later date.
