TWO
NEW CANONS TO BE INSTALLED AT CHRIST CHURCH CATHEDRAL
The Revd Katharine Poulton, Bishop's
Curate at St George & St Thomas's Church,
Cathal Brugha Street, and the Revd Patrick Comerford,
Director of Spiritual Formation at the Church
of Ireland Theological College, will be installed
as Canons of Christ Church Cathedral on Sunday
30 September at 3.30 pm
The Revd Katharine Poulton was
the first woman to be ordained (as a Deacon) in
the Church of Ireland in 1987. She presently serves
as Bishops Curate at St George & St
Thomas's Church, Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin.
While there she has been particularly active in
ministry to the parishs large immigrant
population and her Church has become one of the
centres for the Dioceses Discovery
Services which promote outreach to people of all
nationalities. She is married to the Revd Ian
Poulton, Rector of Killiney with one son and one
daughter and they live in Killiney
The
Revd Patrick Comerford worked for over 30 years
as a journalist with leading provincial and national
papers including eight years as Foreign Desk Editor
with the Irish Times. Patrick presently works
as Director of Spiritual Formation at the Church
of Ireland Theological College as well as serving
as a non-Stipendary Minister in Whitechurch parish
(Rathfarnham). He is married to Barbara with two
sons and lives in Knocklyon.
