Discovery Gospel Choir perform with Sinead O'Connor at Meteor Music Awards

The Discovery Gospel Choir, an offshoot of the Diocesan Discovery Committee, have recorded a new anti-racism single with Sinead O'Connor, called 'We people (who are darker than blue)'. The song was premiered at the recent Meteor Music Awards held in the RDS, Dublin on 15th February.

'We people' was originally written and performed by the American RnB singer Curtis Mayfield, however Sinead O'Connor recorded this cover version for her latest album entitled 'Theology'. The track also features the musical talents of Irish band Republic of Loose and includes the Discovery Gospel Choir singing the powerful chorus.

During the Meteor Music Awards the choir, which is based in St George and St Thomas' church on Cathal Brugha Street, had a chance to meet a number of celebrities performing at the event.

As Ireland's first integrated choir, Discovery has a strong ethos of tackling prejudice in their performances. The choir has performed outside the Taoiseach's office campaigning to 'Make Poverty History', in the Hardwicke Street Flats, at the MAMA Awards, for the PLUS campaign in Dun Laoghaire, in the Mosney Asylum Centre and in Mountjoy Prison. The choir has also performed for the Redeemed Christian Church of God in the Point Theatre in Dublin and has led the singing of the National Anthems in Lansdowne Road and Croke Park.

'We people' is available for purchase at only 0.99c on all download platforms including iTunes.
