A call for prayer for members of the defense forces in Chad

The Archbishop of Dublin, the Most Revd Dr John Neill, today called for prayers for the members of the Defence Forces on Peacekeeping duty in Chad and for their families at home.

In a communication to clergy in the Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough the Archbishop said,

“As members of the Defence Forces take up their peacemaking duties in Chad, I would urge that we pray for them in public worship and individually. We should also remember their families remaining in Ireland. The situation in Chad is very serious with many lives at great risk. It is a matter for pride that the Irish Army has once again been invited to make a substantial contribution within the international community in the cause of peace. The fact that they have contributed so much over the years is a testament to their courage and professionalism.”
