The Revd Adrienne Galligan Appointed Rector of Crumlin and Chapelizod
It was announced today that the Revd Adrienne Galligan, Curate of Seapatrick Parish, in the Diocese of Down and Dromore has been appointed the new Rector of Crumlin and Chapelizod parishes in the Dicoese of Dublin. She will succeed the Revd Canon Ivor Power, who has retired.
The Revd Adrienne Galligan was born in Ballyshannon, Co Donegal and grew up in Donegal, Offaly, Kerry and Wicklow, completing her secondary education in the Holy Faith Secondary School in Greystones. She was further educated in Trinity College Dublin where she graduated with a BA in Irish, History and Fine Arts and a Higher Diploma in Education.
Trained as a secondary school teacher she taught in schools in Dublin City and Wicklow before entering the Church of Ireland Theological College in 2000 to train for ordained ministry. She was ordained a Deacon in Dromore Cathedal in 2003 and a priest in Downpatrick Cathedral the following year. She has been Curate in Seapatrick parish since 2003.
Speaking of her new appointment she said "I am delighted to be commencing ministry in the Grouped Parishes of Crumlin and Chapelizod. Talking to the parishioners there, I believe there are considerable prospects for service and outreach in Crumlin and Chapelizod. Faith is active and about public witness and service as well as worship and Bible Study. I am looking forward to strategizing with parishioners how we can be of service to God and how we can develop links further with people of other churches, faiths and people of no faith. While excited by this prospect, I will be sorry to leave Banbridge and Seapatrick. I have been so blessed by the Lord and the people here who have shown me every kindness these past five years."
Adrienne enjoys hill-walking in her spare time. She will be undertaking a tandem sky-dive for C.M.S.I. on 28 June in aid of Kiwoko Hospital in Uganda.
A date has not yet been set for her institution, but it is expected to take place in September.
