Disestablishment 150 – News and Events

D150: National Service of Commemoration and Panel Discussion – Saturday November 23 2019

The official launch of the Church of Ireland’s National Programme to mark the 150th anniversary of Disestablishment will begin at the opening commemorative National Service in St Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin, on Saturday November 23 2019, at 3pm at which the Archbishop of Canterbury will preach.

The service is free but ticketed. Tickets for members of the general public are available on the St Patrick’s Cathedral website here.

The service will be followed by a panel discussion – entitled ‘Second City, 300, 150, Today’ – starting at 6pm, as part of the annual Jonathan Swift Festival. Again, this event is free but registration is essential via a separate link here.

Disestablishment 150 Colloquium at CITI – Saturday, 30th November 2019

The Church of Ireland Theological Institute will host a colloquium on Saturday November 30. The event will feature three historians, Professor Alan Ford, Dr Miriam Moffit and Professor Salvador Ryan, who will speak on Disestablishment and its context within Irish history. The event will start at 9.30am and finish for lunch at 1.00pm.

The registration fee is €5 and delegates are asked to pay at the registration desk, which will be open from 9.00am. An optional buffet lunch is available for an additional €10.  Delegates are asked to email seminar@ireland.anglican.org to register intent to attend and to request lunch.
