Dublin & Glendalough begins its commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Disestablishment of the Church of Ireland in January 2020 with a series of lunchtime lectures in Christ Church Cathedral.

Entitled ‘Perspectives on 150 Years of the Disestablishment of the Church of Ireland’, the lectures will take place on Fridays throughout January starting at 1.10pm in the Music Room. The lectures will look at Disestablishment from the perspectives of government, history, the Roman Catholic and Church of Ireland churches, and will be delivered by an esteemed line–up of speakers.

Admission is free and all are welcome.

The texts of these lectures (where available) are posted below.

Prof Mary E Daly, former professor of Modern Irish History at UCD and former president of the Royal Irish Academy gave the opening lecture on January 10. Prof Daly presented the political environment in which Disestablishment took place.
