Applications Invited for Archbishop's Certificate Course in Theology

 Applications are invited for the 2008-2010 Archbishop's Certificate Course in Theology.

This course provides a programme of study, leading participants to a greater understanding of the Christian faith.  It is open to everyone who wishes to explore the Christian faith at a deeper level.  No previous study is necessary.  Course participants will have an opportunity to engage in seminars and workshops led by experts.   The course is assessed using a mixture of short essays and project work.  Participants will have an opportunity to complete short pieces of assessment between each day that seminars are held. 

The course will address six key themes:
Theme 1:    Seeking Understanding: the role of theology
Theme 2:    The Good Book: a brief introduction to the Bible
Theme 3:    Images of God
Theme 4:    Jesus: God With Us
Theme 5:    Believing and Belonging
Theme 6:    Life Abundant

The two year course is held on 6 Saturday mornings (9.30am – 1pm) per year from October to May in the Church of Ireland Theological College, Braemor Park, Churchtown, Dublin 14.

Saturday 11th October 2008    (Theme 1   Seeking Understanding: the Role of Theology)
Saturday 15th November 2008 (Theme 1   Seeking Understanding: the Role of Theology)
Saturday 31st January 2009 (Theme 2   The Good Book: A Brief Introduction to the Bible)
Saturday 28th February 2009 (Theme 2   The Good Book: A Brief Introduction to the Bible)
Saturday 9th May 2009 (Theme 3   Images of God)
Saturday 23rd May 2009 (Theme 3   Images of God)

Closing date for receipt of applications is Tuesday 30th September 2008.
The Diocese will award a number of bursaries to assist individuals meet the cost of attendance.
