Dublin's Black Santa Sit Out Starts This Week

The seventh annual 'Black Santa' sit out by the Revd Canon Tom Haskins and his former Curate, the Revd Joyce Rankin will take place this year from Wednesday 17 December to Christmas Eve, Wednesday 24 December. The sit out will begin every day at 9:00am (except Sunday 21 December when it will begin after Morning Prayer in the Church) to 6:00pm.

This years' Black Santa sit out involves a return to St Ann's by Canon Haskins who retired as Vicar of the Church earlier in the year (presently the post of Vicar is Vacant). He and his former Curate, the Revd Joyce Rankin will, as in previous years share the sit out, assisted by many of their parishioners. During some of the lunchtimes, they hope to be joined by members of the Culwick Choral Society Choir and the Loreto Girls Choir of St Stephen's Green.

The charities that will receive the proceeds of the sit out will include the St Vincent de Paul, Barnardos, the Samaritans and charities working for overseas development. The six collections to date have raised over €130,000 for various charities.
