In 2001 he graduated with a MA in Education from the Open University.

With a keen interest in technology and liturgy, the Revd Alan Rufli has served as Electronic Liturgical Officer for the Church of Ireland and Diocesan Liturgical Officer for Dublin and Glendalough, posts he will retain when he moves to Clondalkin.

Responding to his appointment to Clondalkin and Rathcoole the Revd Alan Rufli said, "working in Clondalkin and Rathcoole will offer a new and exciting challenge and I am looking forward to meeting the people there. Of course I'll miss the parishioners in Holmpatrick where I have served for nine years. I'd like to thank them for their kindness and support over that time."

The Revd Alan Rufli is married to Gillian and they have one daughter, Amy (11). In his spare time Alan enjoys Golf and Bowling.

His Institution will take place on Friday 19 March 2010 in St John's Church, Clondalkin at 8pm.
