The Archdeacon of Glendalough responds to the Archbishop's announcement of his intention to retire

The Archdeacon of Glendalough, the Venerable Ricky Rountree, responds to the Archbishop's announcement of his intention to retire;

"It is with a mixture of sadness and of deep appreciation that the clergy and people of United Dioceses of Dublin & Glendalough greet the news of the announcement of the retirement of the Most Reverend John Neill and his wife Betty which will take effect at the end of next January. The Archbishop and his wife have blended a very professional and organised approach to their role with one of close pastoral and personal sensitivity. That warm pastoral care has been very much appreciated by the clergy and families of Glendalough Diocese of which I have had the privilege to serve as Archdeacon for the past two years. It has been a particular joy to work so closely with the Archbishop during that time and to have share in that pastoral role.

"I wish him every blessing in these remaining months as Archbishop of Dublin & Bishop of Glendalough and pray that he and Mrs Neill will have many active and happy years of retirement."
