Diocesan Secretary appointed to Ecclesiastical Post

Scott Hayes, currently Diocesan Secretary for the United Dioceses of Dublin & Glendalough, has been appointed Head of Relationship Management (Faith) for Ecclesiastical Insurance. He will begin his new post on 1 February.

Scott has been closely associated with Church affairs from his days as a boy chorister in Saint Stephen’s Church, his time as Administrator of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, Dublin to the present.

Speaking of the newly created position, Managing Director of EIO, Mr Ronan Foley said, “We are delighted to welcome Scott to Ecclesiastical Insurance. Scott will play a key role in the service and expansion of our faith based business and become an integral part of the senior management team as we look to continue our investment in Ireland”.

Speaking of his departure from the diocesan office, Mr Hayes said, “I am sorry to be leaving this post which I have enjoyed and in which I have been supported by the Honorary Secretaries and Diocesan Councils, however, I am facing into a more challenging job with Ecclesiastical Insurance and I have no doubt I will be of some benefit to the dioceses and the wider church in this capacity.”

The Honorary Secretaries of the dioceses add that “Mr Hayes has been a very capable, successful and well respected diocesan secretary and while we regret his departure after such a short time, we respect his decision and wish him every success in his new position.”
