Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise Seminar, Book Launch and Tri Lingual Evensong

Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise is holding a seminar, book launch and tri–lingual Evensong in Christ Church Cathedral on Saturday February 16.

The highlight of the day will be the launch of the Cumann’s new bilingual services book which features Irish versions of Holy Communion and other frequently used services. The purpose of the book is to facilitate bilingual worship and open up the possibilities of new theological insights in our experience of worship.

Members of the Church in Wales will be in attendance as it was their texts which inspired Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise to produce this book. They will address the seminar, which will be held in the Music Room, upstairs in Christ Church Cathedral, from 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm.

Participants will learn of the measures under consideration in the Church in Wales to give the Welsh language an enhanced place in the life of the Church there. The delegation will be led by the Bishop of Bangor, the Rt Revd Andrew John and include Cynog Davis, former MP and AM for Ceredigion, the Revd Canon Idris Thomas of the Diocese of Bangor and the Revd Gwynn ap Gwilym, Bishops’ Adviser for Church Affairs.

The Bishop of Cashel and Ossory, the Rt Revd Michael Burrows (patron of Cumann Gaelach na hEaglaise), Archdeacon Gary Hastings, and Dáithí Ó Maolchoille will also speak to these issues in an Irish context.

The formal launch of the new services book will be in the Crypt at 5.00 pm followed by trilingual Evensong at 6.00 pm.
