Christmas 2013 at Christ Church Cathedral
This Christmas Christ Church Cathedral has a host of activities to help people of all ages to rediscover the Cathedral in its role at the festive heart of the community. Christ Church Cathedral has announced the return of its popular Christmas Market. The market benefits from its impressive, Dublin city centre location in the atmospheric 12th Century crypt of the Cathedral, the oldest structure in Dublin. For the fourth year running, Christ Church Crypt will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland.
The markets take place from 11.00 am to 4.00 pm on Saturday December 7, 14 and 21. They will feature a colourful range of Irish handmade goods with stalls from a variety of Irish crafts people – to include handcrafted jewellery, knitwear, candles, jams and chutneys, cosmetics and much more.
And of course Christmas just wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to Santa’s Grotto. Santa will also be visiting Christ Church Cathedral in December and the whole family can visit him in his grotto. He will be there from Thursday to Sunday for three consecutive weeks – December 5 to 8, December 12 to 15 and December 20 to 22.
Admission to the Christmas Market is complimentary, with no additional charge to the Cathedral entrance fee.

The Christ Church Cathedral New Year’s Eve Gala Concert in aid of the Simon Community
The Christ Church Cathedral New Year’s Eve Gala Concert in association with Note and Young Hearts Run Free, will this year be in aid of the Simon Community. A very special evening of Irish contemporary music which will include a post–concert champagne reception in the Crypt followed by a countdown to the ringing of the bells at midnight on the Cathedral grounds
Doors open at 8.30 pm and the concert begins at 9.00 pm. Tickets cost €45 per person and include a post–concert champagne reception followed by a private gathering on the Cathedral grounds to ring in the New Year by the world famous Cathedral bells.

11th and 12th at 8pm – Carols by Candlelight – the annual sell–out cathedral choir Christmas concert – so popular that we’re putting on two dates this year – the cathedral choir will be singing Britten’s enchanting Ceremony of Carols, accompanied by harp along with all your favourite carols and Christmas tunes – there will also be rousing congregational hymn singing, accompanied by our famous organ.

Something a little different to celebrate the returning of the light this Winter Solstice – Christ Church Cathedral and the Orchestra of St Cecelia present Vivaldi’s stunning Four Seasons, which will be performed by candlelight. Also featuring music by Bach, Mozart and Handel.
