West Glendalough Parishes Cook Up a Storm With Successful Fundraiser

The parishes of Narraghmore and Timolin with Castledermot and Kinneagh hosted a very successful cookery demonstration evening with celebrity chef, Neven Maguire. The event took place in the Clanard Court Hotel in Athy and was preceded by a busy food fair and craft market which also drew a large crowd who enjoyed the huge array of food and produce on offer.

All who attended to cookery demonstration were treated to a glass of bubbly and a goodie bag on arrival. MC for the evening was Ken Stanley who welcomed the capacity audience.

Neven Maguire was a huge hit. He opened by showing how to make seafood chowder using his mother’s recipe. This was followed by spicy chicken salad and mango salsa and caramelised pork belly served with honey and ginger sauce. There was great interest in the sticky toffee pudding with salted whiskey butterscotch sauce and in Neven’s demonstration on how to decorate desserts with spun sugar curls and baskets.

The night was the brainchild of Fiona Hawkins who organised the event with the support of a very industrious committee. The proceeds raised are going towards parish funds.
