Christ Church Cathedral Choir Sings at St Maelruain’s Harvest

There was standing room only in St Maelruain’s Church in Tallaght this afternoon (Sunday October 5) for the parish’s Harvest Festival Service. The parish welcomed the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral who sang Evensong in the church which had been wonderfully decorated for the occasion.

This was just the second time the choir had left the cathedral to sing in one of the parishes. The moves is part of the cathedral’s Diocesan Music Outreach Programme which was created last year. It seeks to build upon the strong and positive relationships between parish churches and the diocesan cathedra. Last year the choir visited Kilbride Church near Bray.

The service was taken by Auxiliary Priest, the Revd Avril Bennett and the congregation was welcomed by the Rector, Canon William Deverell. Also present were members of the African and Indian communities as well as priests from the Dominican Priory in Tallaght. The preacher was former Rector, the Revd Robert Kingston who is Chaplain of the Mageough.
