The five kilometre walk will enable walkers to see historic, beautiful and often hidden church buildings in the heard of Dublin. They will also experience a short example of the faith practiced in each of the churches visited. Walkers will be welcomed by each of the church communities en route and will enjoy hospitality, music and a unique experience.

The theme for the walk is ‘strolling through the city, churches and time‘ which emphasises that the walk is a combination of history and witness to the character of each of these church communities which have evolved since they were established in the city.

The day will start with registration at Christ Church Cathedral from 11.45 am on May 24. Walkers will meet the congregation in the crypt for coffee at 12.30 pm. GuidedbyDermot Duggan, a Failte Ireland Approved National Tourist Guide, walkers will depart at 12.45 pm and will be lead through the history of the city to experience the unique characteristic of each church building and community and learn how they have contributed to the life of the city.

Visiting Quakers Meeting House in Eustace Street, Abbey Presbyterian Church, walkers will stop for lunch at Dublin Central Mission at 2.00 pm. There they have the opportunity to hear musical recital by The Zimbabwe Fellowship Choir. Finally walkers will proceed to St Patrick’s Cathedral for an opportunity to worship and experience the beauty of Choral Evensong Service at 3.15pm. Following the service, walkers will be given a 25 minute guided tour of the cathedral with the event finishing at 5.00 pm.

The registration fee for the walk will be €20 per person and €40 per family. Additional donations and sponsorship will be very welcome to raise funds for the work of Christian Aid worldwide. People can register at Christ Church Cathedral on the day or online.

Andrew Coleman, regional fundraising coordinator urged people to come out and take part in the walk. “Please come and stroll through the city, churches and time to help us fight poverty step by step. The funds raised will support the work of Christian Aid partners worldwide who work with some of the world’s poorest communities,” he stated.
