St Mary’s Crumlin Celebrate 75th Anniversary of Parish Church

St Mary’s Parish in Crumlin is celebrating the 75th anniversary of their church this year. A special service to mark the anniversary will take place in St Mary’s on Sunday May 14 at 7.00 pm. The preacher will be Bishop Michael Burrows whose father, Walter Burrows, presided over the building of the new parish church.

The Church was consecrated on Wednesday July 15 1942. During the service prayers were said for all who were baptized, confirmed and married in the church. The parish would love to invite everyone who was baptised, confirmed or celebrated special occasions in St Mary’s over the years to attend the service on May 14. Also any people who remember the consecration will be especially welcome.

The anniversary celebrations have been ongoing. A concert in March provided another great opportunity for past parishioners to return and renew old acquaintances.

It is hoped also that the Church will be featured in a new book from Dublin City Council focusing on important buildings of the 20th century in the city which is to be published at Christmas.
