The DCU staff of the Church of Ireland Centre and Chaplaincy were delighted to welcome the new BEd students to DCU at a BBQ in the gardens on the All Hallows’ campus. This event was jointly organised by the DCU Church of Ireland Chaplain Philip McKinley and the Centre. The sunny weather proved ideal for the students from the 2nd, 3rd and 4th year groups came along to meet the new 1st years and share the lovely food.

Commenting on the initiative, Philip McKinley said: “Welcome is a critical component of our service. It is especially needed for students who transition from Secondary to Third Level Education. If students adjust and settle early, then they are usually well equipped for the rest of their course”.

Director of the Church of Ireland Centre, the Revd Prof Anne Lodge added: “The staff and other students in the Church of Ireland Centre were really pleased to have the opportunity to meet and welcome the new students in such a relaxed setting. The sunshine and good food was a great bonus”.
