D&G Diocesan Service for Primary and Junior Schools

‘One World, One God’ 19 October 2017

On 19 October next, the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough will hold its annual Primary School Service in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin, at 11am. The service will be attended by approximately 500 children aged between 10 and 12 years. Archbishop Michael Jackson will preside.

The theme for this years’ service is ‘One World, One God’ and a focal point will be bringing awareness for the children that they are part of a wider Anglican Communion. Our aim is to remind them that children around the world worship and praise the same God that they worship and praise at their schools’ service.

To visualise this connection between communion churches, short videos from Sunday School and church schools will be a part of the service and extend greetings from their children to ours.

“In the world as we find it today, I think it is important that our children know that they are not alone in faith. God is with them always as are the prayers and best wishes of other children around the Anglican Communion,” says the Revd Eugene Griffin, one of the organisers.

The preachers will be the Revd Cathy Hallissey and the Revd Eugene Griffin. This Service also marks the conclusion of the Dublin and Glendalough 800 anniversary celebrations and memorabilia will be placed in the Round Tower time capsule from the 2016 service and will be sealed for a future generation of children to explore.
