Parishioners of Holy Trinity Killiney Say Farewell to their Rector

Parishioners of Holy Trinity Killiney Say Farewell to their Rector

A large number of parishioners attended a reception for Canon Niall Sloane in the Carry Centre following his final service as Rector of Holy Trinity, Killiney, yesterday (Sunday October 15). Niall has been appointed as Rector of Limerick City Parish and Dean of Limerick and will be instituted and installed on Saturday October 21.

Clive Christie delivered a short address on behalf of the Select Vestry and parishioners, highlighting the energy and commitment which Niall had brought to his ministry in the parish.

He noted community had been a central theme of Niall’s mission, as tangibly exemplified by his leading of the refurbishment and redevelopment of the parish hall as the Carry Centre and making it available to the wider local community. Parishioners of every age group benefitted from his ministry in the almost six years he was with us and a real sense of renewal was felt by all.

Such attributes do not go unnoticed so whilst it was with regret the parishioners learned of his new appointment there was an acceptance that in his new role Niall has much to give in the wider church, Clive stated.

Gifts and flowers along with parishioners’ good wishes were presented to Niall, his wife Karen and their daughter by the churchwardens.

In response, Niall thanked all those who had supported him during his time in Killiney and wished everyone God’s blessing in the future.
