Vacancy – Parish Secretary – Rathfarnham Parish, Dublin

Rathfarnham Parish, Church of Ireland, is a Christian faith based organisation working within the Church of Ireland tradition.  We are seeking an experienced administrator to join the staff team on a part–time basis. 

The role involves

·              maintaining parish records,

·              co–ordinating bookings of our facilities

·              typing and printing  liturgies

·              co–ordinating rotas

·              liaising with parish organisations

·              managing parish correspondence

·              the co–ordination and distribution of parish newsletters

·              liaising with Web site oversight team

·              assisting with other communication endeavours as requested by the Parish

·              liaising with the Diocesan Office and wider Anglican Church

·              preparing parish documentation for Annual Easter Vestry and other Diocesan events that may arise

·              ordering supplies

 

While the person appointed need not be a member of the Church of Ireland, s/he would need to be sympathetic to the Anglican tradition and to the parish’s mission which is to build community, strengthen worship and serve the Lord .

The parish facilities comprise a War Memorial Hall in Terenure and  Parish Centre in Rathfarnham village, attached to the Church.  The Parish office is located in a prefab building behind the War Memorial Hall.

Hours of work are 9.30am–12.30pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The Secretary will work closely with the Rector and Church Officers (Hon. Treasurer; Hon. Secretary to the Vestry; Glebe and Church Wardens and Select Vestry members).  The post–holder may be requested to attend occasional evening meetings.

Key requirements for this role:

·              Level 6 Business / Office management  Qualifications

·              Recent experience of working in an administrative role

·              Outstanding  interpersonal skills; professionalism, multi–tasking, self–motivation and communication skills both written and oral

·              Strong attention to detail

·              General office and clerical skills and confidence with  IT (Microsoft/Excel/Access)

·              Time management skills

·              Discretion and ability to respect matters of confidentiality, sensitivity and compassion

·              Ability to collaborate with staff team.

Desirable requirements:

Experience of Church worship, ministry and mission

A current driver’s licence and means of transport

Experience of premises management
