Tullow Parish and Mouth on Fire present First Love, possibly Samuel Beckett’s funniest short story at 8pm. It will be performed by well–known actor Marcus Lamb on Saturday 24th March. Follow in the footsteps and sit in the seat of one of Ireland’s greatest writers. Experience this special, limited capacity event in a unique location frequented in his youth by Beckett.
Directed by Cathal Quinn, the production also features keynote speaker Dr Feargal Whelan.
Beckett in Foxrock is the third annual event honouring the writer’s close connection with the area.
Samuel Beckett, Nobel Laureate, was born and brought up in Foxrock and was a regular attender, along with his mother, at Tullow Church. A commemorative plaque was unveiled by Beckett’s niece in 2016.
Marcus Lamb recently played Bob Cratchit in the feature film The Man who Invented Christmas and Dr James Oakley in Fair City. Marcus also enthralled the audience with his performance in The End, last year’s Beckett in Foxrock production.
Tickets €25 include a wine reception and photographic exhibition showing Beckett’s connection with the area.
