A Prayer for Sanctuary Sunday by Archbishop Michael Jackson
Today is Sanctuary Sunday marking the end of World Refugee Week. Archbishop Michael Jackson has written this prayer to mark the day.
God of refuge and sanctuary we ask that you will fill our hearts with love of you and love of neighbour and stranger.
You are the God of mercy of kindness and of humility and through the Movement of Sanctuary your Holy Spirit inspires your people to give fresh voice and fresh legs to the Hebrew and the Christian Scriptures.
Give us the grace to receive the riches and the goodness, the creativity and the capacity, that those who are refugees bring to their place of arrival and their new home.
We ask this in the power of the Holy Trinity.
