Holy Week and Easter in Christ Church Cathedral

Holy Week and Easter in Christ Church Cathedral

Though Christ Church Cathedral remains closed to the public, it continues to serve as a virtual gathering place for prayer via the webcam.

Morning and Evening Prayer continues to be offered from Monday to Friday at 10am and 5pm.

The following services will be conducted to mark this most significant season in the church year:

April 5: Palm Sunday Eucharist – 11am

April 10: Good Friday Readings and Reflections – 3pm

April 11: Easter Vigil with Renewal of Baptismal Vows – 9pm

April 12: Easter Day Eucharist – 11am

Wilderness Journeys Videos

The Cathedral Nights Lenten gatherings had to be cut short due the coronavirus outbreak but some of the material which was to be shared has been made into videos. In our current situation, which has made terms like ‘social distancing’ and ‘self–isolation’ part of our everyday vocabulary, the theme of ‘Wilderness Journey’ seems incredibly relevant. As we face disruption in our normal lives, we may have more time for self–reflection and many things may come to the surface. May we experience in this difficult time a deepening of prayer.

You can find the video reflections on the cathedral’s website. Next week they will add the final installment, a Holy Week Pilgrimage, with contributions from a variety of artists. You are welcome to share these videos with anyone who may be interested.
