Christian Aid Week Going Online for First Time
Service to be broadcast on RTE on Sunday May 10.
Christian Aid Week takes place from May 10 to 17 and is going to be very different this year. The annual fundraising week has taken place each year in May since 1957 and usually includes all sorts of events. However, for the first time in their history they are taking Christian Aid Week online.
There will also be a service with Christian Aid Ireland and music from the Ignite Community, Dublin, on RTÉ One television and RTÉ Radio 1 Extra this Sunday (May 10) from 11am to 11.45am. The service will be led by Christian Aid Ireland’s CEO, Rosamond Bennett, with the Rev Dr Liz Hughes.
Christian Aid has prepared a range of worship and prayer resources to help churches to continue to give, act and this Christian Aid Week. These will enable churches to hold their own virtual Christian Aid service and/or run a quiz with their congregation and to help guide them in prayer.
The Virtual Service video resources are available to view and download here: https://www.christianaid.ie/christian-aid-week/virtual-worship
And there are resources to help you run your own quiz including a questions and answers sheet.
During Christian Aid Week they will be posting short (5–6 minute) reflections on 1 Corinthians 13:7–8 from some of their international staff from Myanmar, Kenya and Nigeria and also from staff in Ireland. These will be available to view via Christian Aid’s YouTube channel and Facebook Page.
Lastly, if you’d like a member of Christian Aid Ireland speaking team to give a talk at your online service either pre–recorded or via video–conferencing then please contact them: firstname.lastname@example.org
Christian Aid is sponsored by 41 Churches across Britain and Ireland, including the Church of Ireland, and is among five mission and development agencies currently being supported by the Bishops’ Appeal to help with the global response to Covid–19.
