Join Us Online for Pentecost – There are Many Ways to Celebrate

This Sunday, May 31, is Pentecost and throughout Dublin & Glendalough there are many opportunities to join parish communities online to celebrate the birth of the church.

Archbishop Michael Jackson is preaching at a pre–recorded service in St Patrick’s Church, Greystones, which will be available to watch on Sunday morning on the St Patrick’s Greystones YouTube Channel or accessed via the parish Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/stpatricksgreystones

The Archbishop is also providing the address for the weekly sermon podcast which is offered as part of the weekly resources for worship at home which are prepared by the Revd Ken Rue for the dioceses. Rathfarnham Confirmation Group

In Rathfarnham Parish, the Confirmation group is leading the service this Sunday as it is Pentecost. The group was confirmed in February. Dr Joan Forsdyke is bringing the reflection and the service will feature singing remotely recorded by the choir. One Church Pentecost Gathering

St Catherine’s Church on Thomas Street is bringing its 40 day prayer initiative to a close this Pentecost Sunday by gathering as many people and churches together as possible at 11am.  The celebration will be hosted by 24/7 Prayer Dublin, Praxis and Saint Catherine’s Church, but they will be joined by hundreds of Christians from all over the country as they meet to worship, pray and reflect together. Anglican Communion Online service

Archbishop John McDowell, will preach as part of the Anglican Communion’s service for Pentecost. Archbishop McDowell will preach from Acts 2.1–21 on the work of the Holy Spirit. The service will be available at www.anglicancommunion.org/worship from 7pm on Saturday evening will be available afterwards here.

Parish Online Worship

Parishes throughout the dioceses are offering worship online on Sundays and during the week. Details of where the services can be accessed are available in the directory below. Just choose a service and click on the link provided.

Some of the services listed in the directory below are livestreamed and others are recorded and available to watch at any time (and not just on Sunday!). Those on Facebook Live are also available to watch later in most cases. Some parishes are using Zoom for live virtual services and email addresses are provided to obtain the information to join in – all are welcome.

We are aware that some people may not be confident online or have access to broadband. If you know someone who would like to watch a service this weekend, copy the link to the service and send it to them as a text message or WhatsApp. Once they have a smartphone they will be able to watch on their phones.
