Worship from Home – Church Services and Reflections Online

Many churches are now back open for public worship with restrictions in place for public safety (check locally for details). With limits on numbers and some understandably nervous of attending, many parishes are continuing to offer worship online. If you are looking for a church service to join online this weekend there is a full directory below. Some services are livestreamed and some are pre–recorded. Most are available to watch at any time.

Many parishes are broadcasting online Carol Services this Sunday. Please check locally for details.

Magnificence – A Reflection for the Fourth Sunday in Advent by the Archbishop of Dublin

Archbishop Michael Jackson continues his video reflections for Advent this Sunday (December 20).

On the Fourth Sunday in Advent his theme is ‘Magnificence’ focussing on Mary and based on the reading from St Luke 1: 26–38. This passage is read by Lisa O’Brien Corry, a Diocesan Reader based in Blessington Union in Glendalough.

The video will be available to watch on this website or on the Dublin and Glendalough YouTube Channel here on Sunday morning as well as on our Facebook and Twitter feeds.

The reflections continue each Sunday in Advent and conclude on Christmas Day. Subscribe to the Dublin & Glendalough YouTube channel here so as not to miss them.

If you missed last Sunday’s reflection you can catch up here.

Online Service of Nine Lessons and Carols

A beautiful Service of Nine Lessons & Carols collaboration involving over 100 singers from 30 parishes across Ireland has been recorded remotely and published on YouTube coordinated by the Director of Music at St Brigid’s Stillorgan, Tom Maxwell, and edited by St Brigid’s parishioner Simon Grier.

With a bidding prayer given by the Archbishop of Dublin and concluding with a blessing from the Archbishop of Armagh, the service will provide a wonderful resource for parishes this year when restrictions mean that most carol services cannot take place physically. Readings have been recorded from different parishes involved.

The full Carol Service is available to watch on YouTube here. The sound files of the carols and two anthems are available for parishes to download to use in their physical Christmas services where singing cannot take place, or in their virtual services online. They can be downloaded from the Church Music Dublin website here.
