Commenting on the appointment, Archbishop Michael Jackson said: “The Revd Canon Lesley Robinson has worked assiduously in Clontarf Parish and in Fingal Rural Deanery with care for people and devotion to God in all things. I therefore welcome wholeheartedly her appointment to the Chapter of Christ Church Cathedral.”

The Dean of Christ Church Cathedral, the Very Revd Dermot Dunne also welcomed the appointment,. “I am very happy to welcome Lesley Robinson as the newest canon to our Chapter. Lesley brings a vast experience of parochial ministry and holds pastoral care as central to that ministry,” he said. “Lesley is not a stranger to the cathedral as she has celebrated the Eucharist with prayers for healing and wholeness on a regular basis. I know her to be a popular priest among her own flock as well as with her priest colleagues. I look forward to working with Lesley on the chapter and to welcoming her to preach on her assigned preachment Sundays. May God continue to bless her in her ministry and may He also continue to guide our ministry and outreach in the cathedral.”

Canon Robinson said that she was looking forward to contributing to the life of the cathedral. “As a country girl at heart I never thought I would be a Canon of Christ Church Cathedral, but I am honoured to have been appointed by the Archbishop, and will do my best to serve in whatever way I can,” she commented.

Canon Robinson will be installed on Sunday November 7.
