The Diocese of Dublin & Glendalough has strong links with various parts of the global body of Christ through CMS Ireland and in August this year Kill O’ The Grange parish hosted a very special visit from Bishop Levi and Mama Agnes Yepete from the Diocese of Yei, South Sudan.

This formed part of the “Kingdom Voices” event when CMSI and SAMS Ireland jointly welcomed 36 world church leaders from Africa, Asia and South America for a unique week of activities.  Following on from the Lambeth Conference the event provided a unique opportunity for church leaders and parishes in Ireland to hear from parts of our global family in some of the most marginalized parts of the world.  In many cases they are witnessing to Christ in areas of conflict and tension, environmental and economic distress, places where good news is badly needed, and yet the church there is growing and thriving.

Kingdom Voices week allowed many parishioners to get to know these inspirational leaders, to learn from them and to hear their voices.

During the week, the global guests contributed to three special events in Belfast

·       Global Partners Conference, at Tobar Mhuire Retreat & Conference Centre, Crossgar (including a women’s seminar on Gender Based Violence facilitated by Mothers’ Union).

·       Church leaders Day, at St Donard’s Parish Centre, focusing on the five marks of mission

·       Evening Celebration hosted by St Anne’s Cathedral

·       Family Fun Day hosted by All Nations Ministries in Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park

The Bishops and their spouses were also hosted by around 40 parishes where the visitors gained an insight into the mission and ministry of the Church of Ireland, while also giving input through Sunday sermons and other local events.
