Vacancy – Parish secretary (part–time) – Rathfarnham, Dubllin

Rathfarnham Parish is currently inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons for the above position.

The role involves supervising and facilitating the day to day administrative work of the parish. The person appointed will work closely with the select vestry, clergy, the parish volunteer sector, Diocesan officers and  independent users of the parish facilities.

Rathfarnham Parish is a Christian faith based parish within the Church of Ireland tradition. Applicants do not need to be from this tradition but would need to be understanding of it and support the parish’s mission – to serve God,  grow faith and  build community.

Responsibilities include–

•       General office administration

•       Updating the parish data bases and administrative records in compliance with GDPR

•       Overseeing War Memorial Hall and Parish Centre bookings

•       Dealing with general inquiries on phone or via e mail

•       Arranging bank lodgements

•       Emailing the parishioners weekly or as often as required

•       Printing as required

•       Producing the parish newsletter

•       Invoicing

•       Placing orders for church supplies

•       Updating notice boards and website

Requirements include–

•       High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Graphics, Powerpoint)

•       Excellent operational planning, organising work/management skills

•       Reliability and a proven track record

•       Excellent interpersonal and people management skills (written and oral)

•       Parish Mission focused

•       Ability to respect matters of confidentiality, sensitivity, compassion

Location and hours –

The role is based in the Parish Office Portacabin to the rere of the War Memorial Hall adjacent to the Rectory on Rathfarnham Road, Terenure.

The role is for 15 hours per week Monday – Friday 9.30 am –12.30pm.

Applicants will be invited to interview in person. The interview panel will consist of 4 members drawn from the select vestry and parish with whom the parish secretary liaises in the course of parish work.
