Lambeth for All – Exploring Anglicanism Through the Lambeth Calls
People of Dublin and Glendalough are invited to join Anglicans around the globe as they explore the themes of the Lambeth Calls. The Lambeth Calls are the third phase of the Lambeth Conference which was attended by Bishops from across the Anglican Communion in July 2022.
The Lambeth Calls open up the conversations that were had at the conference to all Anglicans and the aim of each is to deepen faithfulness to God, advance the ministry of the communion and enable wider participation by churches and communities around the world. Throughout the Anglican Communion people are bringing the Lambeth Calls to life in their own contexts.
Through a series of conversations and gatherings, we in Dublin and Glendalough will add our voices to the call with the opportunity to show Anglicans around the world what Anglicanism looks like in our dioceses.
The Lambeth Calls encompass 10 themes and we are encouraged to consider those themes as they are reflected here in the actions of people in Dublin and Glendalough. People in our parishes are already doing so many things, living out their faith both in church and in communities. All we have to do is share who we are. And we have the opportunity to learn from and celebrate with other Anglicans throughout the communion as we walk, listen and witness together.
The 10 Lambeth Calls are:
- Discipleship
- Environment and Sustainable Development
- Anglican Identity
- Safe Church
- Science and Faith
- Human Dignity
- Christian Unity
- Mission and Evangelism
- Inter Faith
- Reconciliation
Each call had a drafting group, with diverse representation from around the Anglican Communion. Each call includes declarations, affirmations and common calls for action or reflection.
Lambeth has provided many resources to help people around the Anglican Communion engage with the Lambeth Calls. There are regular ‘Share the Call’ webinars on each of the calls which you can sign up to here https://www.lambethconference.org/phase-3/register-for-phase-3/.
In Dublin and Glendalough we see this as an opportunity to celebrate what we are doing in our parishes and wider communities and communicate it across the world as part of the Anglican family. The calls are very broad and there is scope for the people of Dublin and Glendalough to learn and flourish in our Anglican identity while acknowledging that we are part of something much bigger.
The first of our gatherings will take place at three locations in Dublin and one in Glendalough on November 7. They will facilitate people from every parish in sharing and celebrating what they do, in building connections across the dioceses and across the communion, and taking action on the Lambeth Calls. More details will be available shortly. The second gathering will take place online on December 7 when we will hear from people in other parts of the Anglican Communion.

The first call explores discipleship and you can watch the webinar here: https://www.lambethconference.org/phase_3_theme/discipleship/. Incidentally you will recognise the 5Ts distillation of the Five Marks of Mission of the Anglican Communion (Tell, Teach, Tend, Transform and Treasure) as they originated from Dr David Tuohy SJ’s work with Dublin and Glendalough on Come&C.
The current focus is on the Environment and Sustainable Development and there are lots of resources available here:
