New Mothers’ Union Diocesan Chaplain Commissioned
Canon Leonard Ruddock, Ada Lawson, Archbishop Michael Jackson and the Revd Colin McConnaghie at the monthly diocesan Mothers’ Union Service in Christ Church Cathedral.

Members of Mothers’ Union in Dublin and Glendalough gathered in Christ Church Cathedral on St Brigid’s Day (February 1) for the commissioning of their new Diocesan Chaplain.

The Revd Colin McConaghie, Rector of Castleknock and Mulhuddart with Clonsilla, was commissioned as Diocesan Chaplain by Archbishop Michael Jackson. He succeeds Canon Leonard Ruddock who presented the new chaplain with the Mothers’ Union Stole.

The service was led by the Archbishop with the assistance of Diocesan President Ada Lawson.

Archbishop Jackson preached drawing on the Collect for St Brigid’s Day. He focused on the themes of leadership and service, and women in the Church and Mothers’ Union.

After the service Ada welcomed Rev Colin and wished him well in his new role. She thanked Canon Leonard for his care over the last three years. Members gathered in the Chapter House for refreshments afterwards.

The Mothers’ Union Service takes place monthly in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin.
