Details of Ecumenical Bible Week 2024 Announced
You are invited to any or all of the events.
The organisers of Ecumenical Bible Week have unveiled the programme for 2024. Ecumenical Bible Week runs from Sunday May 19 to Sunday May 26 – Pentecost to Trinity Sunday.
The theme for 2024 – Peace and Justice in a Troubled World – is inspired by the times in which we live – a “troubled world”. The organisers hope to bring a variety of faith perspectives from the Scriptures – “peace and justice” – to bear on our current experience. Accordingly, they have planned some prayer times with the opening and closing events, and two encounters: Thinking Allowed and a Symposium.
The Symposium on Thursday May 23 at 7.30pm in UCD will include on its panel the new Chief Rabbi of Ireland, the Dean of Theology in Maynooth and a well–known Quaker from the UK. The question up for consideration is ‘Are peace and justice compatible?’
Thinking Allowed has always enjoyed the active support and participation of the two Archbishops of Dublin and this year is no different. They will be joined by three other participants on Monday May 20 in St Paul’s Arran Quay, again reflecting diverse experiences and traditions focusing on the question ‘Can you personally experience peace when injustice persists?’.
The opening event takes place in Christ Church Taney and the closing event is in St Jude the Apostle Willington Catholic Parish.
All are invited and welcome to attend in person as much of the programme as you can. All four events will be available live online, which will suit many people. However, as you know, nothing quite matches being present in person.
For more information visit www.bibleweek.ie where you will find information on each event, as well as full list of all events in plain text. The organisers, Sr Éibhlis NicUaithuas, the Revd Ken Rue and Dr Kieran J.O’Mahony, encourage you to share this link widely.
