Service of Prayer for Armenian Prisoners

PLEASE NOTE CHANGE OF VENUE AND TIME: Taney Parish, Dundrum, at 4pm on Sunday November 10.

A service of prayer and solidarity with Armenians imprisoned in Baku, Azerbaijan, will take place in Taney Parish, Dublin, this Sunday, November 10, at 4pm. Bishop Hovakim Manukyan will attend. The service is one of a number taking place globally over the weekend as part of a worldwide initiative led by the Armenian Church. Similar services will take place at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin and in Armenian cathedrals across Armenia and its diaspora.

This initiative is part of a broader campaign led by Luis Moreno Ocampo, the first prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, advocating for the release of Armenian hostages ahead of COP29. By joining in prayer, Armenians seek both divine blessing and increased awareness among their communities and the wider international community.

All are welcome to join the service to which diplomats, religious leaders, human rights advocates and individuals committed to peace and justice have been invited.

Additional information is available by emailing info@armenianchurch.org.uk.

The Armenian community in Ireland has close ties to the Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough. An Armenian Khachkar (carved memorial stone) is located in the grounds of Christ Church Cathedral and the Dublin Parish of the Armenian Church worships in Taney.
