Vacancy – Diocesan Safeguarding Compliance Officer – Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough

Applications are invited for the part–time post of Safeguarding Compliance Officer in the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough who will be responsible for the oversight of all Diocesan Safeguarding procedures in line with the Church of Ireland Safeguarding Board’s Policies in the Republic of Ireland.

This role includes, but is not limited to, the following:

1.     Promote safeguarding across the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough.

2.     Arrange training for parishes in Child and Adult Safeguarding, along with training of parish panels.

3.     To support parishes throughout the dioceses in all matters relating to both Child and Adult Safeguarding issues.

4.     To provide support and assistance to parish panels in relation to completion of Triennial Audits.

5.     To ensure that all parish Child and Adult Safeguarding Statements are in date and displayed clearly.

6.     To support parishes through the process of submitting Online Safeguarding Returns.

7.     Provide regular updates to Diocesan Councils

8.     Maintain database of diocesan clergy, panel members, audit returns etc.

9.     In conjunction with the Safeguarding Officer for the Republic of Ireland, ensure that the Diocese is compliant in policy, training and practice with the Safeguarding Standards as outlined by the Church of Ireland Safeguarding Board.

Applicants should have the following:

1.     Some prior experience in the area of Safeguarding for children and/or adults

2.     Knowledge and experience of using a range of IT programmes to a high standard

3.     An awareness of legislation, policy and procedures relating to child and adult Safeguarding

4.     At least a general understanding of the teachings of the Church of Ireland and a clear commitment to the work and mission of the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough.

5.     A current full driving licence and access to own transport is necessary to carry out the duties of the post.

6.     A high level of initiative and self–motivation.

7.     An appreciation of the need for sensitivity and confidentiality.

8.     Good communication skills.

9.     Ability to communicate with and develop good working relationships with a wide and diverse range of people.
