14th – 16th March
Peregryne Sing Compline in Irish

Peregryne will sing the office of compline in Irish (Na Coimpléide) in three city centre churches in Dublin over the St Patrick’s weekend, paired with settings of medieval Latin polyphony with with Gaelic links of their own.
The music will be selected from two settings of ‘Gaude flore virginali’ by Robert Carver (c.1485–c.1570), a composer for the Scottish court, and by Hugh Kellyk (fl. c.1480) which survives in the Eton choirbook, as well as a Te Lucis by Thomas Tallis (c.1505–85).
The offices will be sung in the Franciscan friary of Adam & Eve’s (the church of the Immaculate Conception) on Merchants’ Quay on Friday 14 March at 17.30; in the church of the Augustinian friary of John’s Lane church (St Augustine & St John) on Saturday 15 March at 17.00, and in the lady chapel of St Patrick’s cathedral on Sunday 16 March at 18.30.
The offices are in memory of Professor Raymond Gillespie (1955–2024) and Dr Raghnall Ó Floinn (1953–2024), former director of the National Museum of Ireland, who died respectively in February and December last year, and all are most welcome to attend.
