The Revd Scott Evans Appointed Rector of Killiney–Ballybrack

The Revd Scott Evans has been appointed as the new Rector of St Matthias, Killiney–Ballybrack. Scott is currently Curate Assistant in Holy Trinity, Rathmines. The announcement was made in both parishes this morning (Easter Day).
Scott is the father of two children (aged 4 and 1) and is married to Christina who is Chaplain to East Glendalough School in Wicklow town.
When he left school, Scott studied Applied Theology and Youth and Community Work at the Irish Bible Institute and Moorlands College before becoming a youth and schools worker for Scripture Union. In 2008, he became part of the Church of Ireland and was appointed Diocesan Youth Officer for the Dioceses of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory before moving on in 2012 to work full–time as an author and speaker.
He was appointed chaplain to University College Dublin in 2016 and began the discernment process for ordination soon after. He was ordained to the diaconate in Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin in 2023 following which he served as Deacon Intern in Kilternan Parish and, more recently, as Curate Assistant in the United Parish of Rathmines with Harold’s Cross (Holy Trinity).
“The past 13 years that I have spent first as a parishioner and now as a Curate Assistant in Holy Trinity have been an indescribable honour and privilege. I’m so grateful to have been part of this community where I have had the chance to serve and be served by incredible people seeking to do God’s will and live out his call. I’m particularly grateful for my friendship with the Revd Rob Jones whose support, guidance and companionship have been so crucial to my journey. At the same time, my family and I are so excited to start this new chapter in St Matthias and to get to know the people of Ballybrack and Killiney. We’ve been so encouraged by the passion and welcome of those we’ve met so far and we can’t wait to dive in,” Scott said.
