New Migration and Ethnic Diversity Hub for Church of Ireland Website

New Migration and Ethnic Diversity Hub for Church of Ireland Website

The Church of Ireland has published a new hub on its website to inform parishioners about issues and trends in migration and ethnic diversity, and to help them to respond in ways inspired by their faith.  The hub – at www.churchofireland.org/hubs/migration – shares suggestions for responding during and after times of tension, a series of video messages, leaflets and reports, including the From Every Nation? handbook produced by the Irish Council of Churches.

Census results about ethnicity and official statistics on immigration and seeking asylum are presented and sourced from the UK Home Office, the Irish Department of Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, the Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency, and the Central Statistics Office.  The information was researched by the Church of Ireland Press Office for the Primate’s Reference Group on Ethnic Diversity, Inclusion and Racial Justice.

Readers are encouraged to remember that every number is ultimately about a group of people, each of whom is created with dignity in the image of God, and that opportunities to listen to and learn from personal experiences can open up more ways of understanding our neighbours.

The hub format has been used on the website in recent years to gather and share relevant resources to help people in our communities with the rising cost of living and share hope with people who are without a home.  All three hubs can be found on the Church of Ireland website at www.churchofireland.org/hubs
