Video: Al Ahli Hospital a Beacon of Hope – Director Appeals for Prayer
The Majma (Synod) of the Episcopal Diocese of Jerusalem, which took place in Jordan last week (September 14–18 2026) was addressed by Suhaila Tarazi, Director of Al Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza. The hospital is owned and run by the Diocese of Jerusalem and this was the first time she has taken to the podium at Majma since the start of the Gaza war.
Suhaila took time out to talk to Archbishop Michael Jackson, who was attending the Majma as part of Dublin and Glendalough’s link with the Diocese of Jerusalem, about the current situation at Al Ahli. Dublin and Glendalough has conducted a number of fundraising and awareness raising campaigns for the hospital since 2014.
Currently the small hospital is receiving about 300 patients in the casualty department each day and overall, Suhaila reports, it is taking care of 1,000 patients a day. She outlines the challenges the hospital faces and praises the commitment of the hospital’s staff.
Suhaila urges the people of Dublin and Glendalough to continue to pray for Al Ahli that it can continue its mission of love and be a beacon of hope to all.
