2026–2027 Diocesan Cycle of Prayer Available Now
The new Church year begins on Advent Sunday, November 29, and so too begins a new Cycle of Prayer for the United Dioceses of Dublin and Glendalough.
Through our Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, which is compiled each year by Canon Mark Gardner, we invite you to pray for every parish and clergyperson in these United Dioceses, every chaplaincy and all of the mission agencies, individuals and organisations the Church of Ireland works through. We also invite you to pray for parishes and organisations in our partner diocese, the Diocese of Jerusalem.
In his forward to this year’s edition, Archbishop Michael Jackson highlights the importance of the Cycle of Prayer.
“It enables us to hold together by praying together and by worshipping together. The Diocesan Cycle is what connects us from parish to parish, from institution to institution, from community to community. This is the weave of our diocese. It creates the pattern of our prayer. Each of our parishes is treated equally and is given equivalent honor in our remembering them, their clergy and their people throughout the year,” he said.
The Archbishop added: “The Diocesan Cycle also connects us with our partner–diocese of Jerusalem. In this way, it keeps our eyes focused on the wider world of Christianity and of The Anglican Communion to which we belong. Not only does it protect us from an insularity of understanding. It connects us spiritually with one of the most war–torn and hardest suffering parts of today’s world where politics, economics, religion and culture create a cauldron of contempt that will have repercussions and ramifications for generations to come.”
