Joan Rufli, Thea Boyle and Audrey Smith were three of the first five women lay readers to be appointed by the then Archbishop Alan Buchanan alongside Daphne Wormell. They are pictured with Bishop Pat Storey in Christ Church Cathedral last night (December 10) when a cross left by Daphne for the first woman bishop was presented.
